Stay Hydrated in the Workplace

A common notion is that water is the best source of hydration. Becoming dehydrated is much more serious and dangerous than you may realise. The brain is made up of around 70% water, meaning that even slight dehydration can have a negative effect on your body, your work and your productivity.

The good news (if you’re not a “water person”) is that not all of that fluid has to be just water.  Hot drinks count too!

Offices can be particularly inhospitable, dry places, with most being centrally heated in the winter and air conditioned in the summer.  In these dry environments, you may find that you dehydrate faster than you would normally, so investing in an office water cooler or a hot water boiler could dramatically improve staff productivity and even, dare we say it, morale.

Water is by far the best way to keep hydrated throughout the day and a water dispenser in the office is a perfect solution to keep everyone happy. Drinking water coolers are cheap, easy to install and effective, and ensure that everyone in the office will have a constant supply of water.

What’s not often reported is that beverages such as tea and coffee count towards your fluid intake, and may bring with them other nutrients and antioxidants too.  The benefit therefore of having an instant hot water boiler alongside your office water cooler is obvious.

The best way to calculate how much water you need each day is to divide your body weight in half.  The answer you get gives an estimate of the number of ounces of water you ought to drink every day.  If it’s easier, most experts recommend drinking between 8-10 cups a day.

If you begin to feel a slight slump at work, as most of us do especially in the afternoon, you may simply need to drink more. So grab a glass of water from the water cooler or a hot drink from the water boiler to help you feel energised and alert.  You will be able to complete more work, more effectively and will go home feeling much better and happier, all thanks to a few glasses of water, cups of tea or coffee that you could easily access thanks to the water dispenser or instant water boiler in your office.
